No need to this time, surprisingly. The highest upvoted comments have now become what “controversial” used to be. People are finally getting sick of this shit.

And let's be real they knew what the OP meant. People just have to virtue signal every chance they get.

[deleted]

I really hate seeing that. I'm trans and these people who insert trans discussion into every conversation are annoying. As long as someone isn't being anti-lgbt there's no need to jump in and correct everything all the time.

TossItLikeAFreeThrow

That's a tough metric to have considering that statistically speaking, most of the world is anti-lgbt. You'd be putting in a lot of leg work

[deleted]

What i mean is conversations with people you know. I rarely jump into strangers conversations to remind them that trans-people exist. But friends/family? I might mention it if they say something really wrong/really offensive. I don't typically present as my preferred gender so it can be easy to forget I'm trans when I'm around them, and me saying "just a reminder that trans people don't 'wake up and choose to be trans'" for them to realize they are talking out their ass.

schru031

It's even less than that. I made this comment a couple weeks ago and people hated me for it: "I think it's great to bring this up, but trans people make up an estimated 0.6% of the population. 0.3% would be a reasonable estimate for the number of trans men who can get pregnant. That's before you go into those who have had surgery, and that estimates show male to female transitions are more common. Sometimes this feels like derailing. Some of my closest friends are trans, truly, but numerically it can sometimes feel a little annoying."

Smeefperson

Exactly. Some people I guess can't deal with the fact that they're in the minority of people and try to deny it. And being a minority is fine! There's nothing wrong with not being the average. But don't be angry or surprised about it when some people don't talk about you when they speak about broad topics!

[deleted]

[удалено]

GaryOakIsABitch

Everyone knows that "woman" in that context largely refers to biological sex (especially when you're talking about actual physiological happenings like periods), but some people have no ability to "read the room" so to speak It bothers me particularly because there are very serious issues that trans people face (namely social ostracization and discrimination), yet there are people out there losing their minds over this And this isn't anywhere even *near* as bad deliberate misgendering (which isn't usually all that bad comparatively to begin with)

NerdyRedneck45

What bugs me is that a lot of times it’s not trans folks either that make these points- it’s cis heterosexuals thinking that they’re helping. That’s why I stay the hell out of the way unless I’m asked for help.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Throwaway47321

I think you’d find the people who are offended and speak out about things not being inclusive are not representative of the people who are being marginalized. It’s almost always keyboard sjws not you know, actual trans people, who are upset about these things

k2_electric_boogaloo

Ya most of the trans folk I know are able to determine pretty well for themselves when people are being transphobic assholes, oddly enough. I obviously have their backs, but so far they haven't needed me to get offended on their behalf at comments that no rational human would interpret as offensive.

enbywych

It's not even trans people making these comments all the time. It's those neo-liberal types who have to shame everyone every time there's a new self-identifying category. And not like parents over-researching pronouns to make sure their kids know they care but those people who need to feel superior for being inclusive so they can win points from said group.

ChancesAreNoneNow

I’m pregnant and have noticed that a lot of the literature about pregnancy now uses the term “pregnant people” rather than “pregnant women.” I’m totally accepting of trans people and that some can get pregnant but I feel it’s a tiny bit degrading to no longer recognize that women have borne the brunt of pregnancy throughout human history and we are now stripping that from them by having to include the minuscule percentage of people who transitioned to being a man and can now get pregnant as a man.

schru031

Yeah that would bug the shit out of me too.

Just_OneReason

Yeah maybe I’m a transphobe, but I have a hard time broadening women’s issues to include *everyone* because there might be some menstruating trans men left out. It feels like it detracts from the women who experience these issues every day. Pregnancy is a woman’s issue. Menstruation is a woman’s issue. Why do we have to say Access to birth control, access to abortion, access to obstetric and gynecological care, these are all issues that women face. When we change the language to include *everyone* for the sake of inclusion, it feels like we are erasing the women. Trans men who menstruate do face all kinds of challenges too, but I feel like things can be classified under the scope trans issues, instead of trying to broaden women’s issues to include them.

DavidBeLucky

Aye, no surprise, wiiiiildly high numbers. You think 1/200 people are trans? Maybe in Cali.... there are still countries out there who as a whole are like "wtf is trans?".

Ott621

I submit a lot of polls in a group I run. I've started passive aggressively making them 100% inclusive because if I don't, people complain Q: What color is your car? A1 Red A2 Blue A3 Other A4 I don't have a car and need to have an applicable option because I'm going to throw a bitch fit if I'm not included

Meekgeek531

As a transperson I agree. I'm honestly getting sick of these "SJW" types that try to police every conversation and end up making the rest of us look like a bunch of thin skinned children. Inclusivity is a good thing, but there is a line. It is exhausting for those of us just trying to live in peace.

gustsnts

The day people start understanding this is not driven by peoples desire to be inclusive, but to basically promote themselves socially (by berating others and gaining social points by achieving some imaginary higher moral standing), then we will be able to completely reject this type of extremism nonsense (related to have to be 100% inclusive in the speech all the time, no matter what). The reason it has gone so far is because it’s completely self-serving and has nothing to do with inclusiveness or compassion.

Why can't people just be accepting of trans people existing without having every gendered use of language put under a microscope. It helps literally nothing.

Karl_the_stingray

Funniest thing is I have never seen any actual trans people advocate for this shit. If anything it's always the "genderqueer uwu non-binary AFAB he/they lesbian" type of crowd, transtrenders for the lack of a better word

DiabolicalMasquerade

I have. My sibling does this shit. Got into a whole ass argument because a friend was announcing her pregnancy and having discovered the gender of the baby. Went off in a tangent about how the parents can't decide for it. It really hits different in person. Like a super saiyan woke karen

alrighteyaphrodite

dude my 16 y/o sibling does that shit too. n every one of her little friends are all some kind of non-binary and they all repeat the same weird parroted controversial opinions that they see online… it really does hit different in person

pandemonious

are you me? I'm pretty left leaning and my sibling went from thinking she was bi, to thinking she was straight, to thinking she was trans, to thinking she is nonbinary and I'm just like dude, you're 16 you have no idea about anything you're going to be in 10 years just chill the fuck out! and when asked for reasoning, as you said it's just parroted talking points you would see on like a snapchat story "being my most authentic self" or something as mundane as "I think I would look cute with facial hair"... not to even start on how reductionist that is to actual trans people who have struggled with gender issues and literal violence their entire lives. I want to support my sibling no matter what but for fucks sake.

DJMikaMikes

>"being my most authentic self" In some roundabout way, maybe they are "being themselves" by showing that they're somewhat insecure and weak people, who are willing to abuse real problems with a circle of obscure labels and self-fulfilling prophecies as a way to gain social media attention and validation. In trying to force labels on themselves, they also tend to alter their "authentic" behaviors as a way to fit the labels better. You can just "be your authentic self" without having to label every minute thing so that you can be attached to a group and validated on social media. But again, they are "being themselves" in some way, but it's unhealthy.

GaryOakIsABitch

This is what makes me so mad Despite all of the progress in recent years, trans people are still second-class citizens pretty much everywhere Nitpicking language isn't going to do anything to help a 17-year-old trans woman who just got disowned by her entire family after coming out

Noooooo129746

Exactly thank you. Making sure these people get unbiased care and resource is what counts. They couldn't care less about not using gender neutral language where it doesn't count.

You shit so hard you became a woman

FormerLurker3

This is scientifically accurate. Also when a cis woman holds in a big enough sneeze, a penis shoots out of her vagina like a balloon being inflated and she becomes a man. I’m a scientist.

reallylovesguacamole

Cis doesn’t exit, neither do penises, vaginas, men, or women. Biological and physical reality doesn’t exist, only spirit gender.

FormerLurker3

A fellow scientist, I see. 🧐 Edit: pee is stored in the balls. Babies are made out of pee from the balls and are injected into the belly button, where they mix with boob milk and swallowed chewing gum and become a baby. I am a scientist.

CampLonely

This type of gatekeeping exists within online transgender communities too. I don't know why but trans communities are highly toxic

hamsterwheel

I could speculate but it would come from a place of ignorance. It's just becoming harder and harder to be an ally because the concepts are becoming so abstract and subjective, and you're punished for questioning or not understanding. It's so, so frustrating right now. Especially when thinks like ones own use of language is constantly invalidated and interrupted like this post shows. Ugh It does make me relieved to see a trans person call out this behavior, big time. So thank you. I hope your perspective takes hold.

simple-harm

I'm a bio-female, and Ive been called every derogatory term for female out there....but the worst term is menstruater. Like fuuuuuuuck off. Being reduced to that incites a real rage. Lol so, yeah, I thank you for not supporting lanuage tactics that would support that term. <3

Aydenator20

Trans here too. I agree the way she went about it was annoying. There was nothing transphobic about OPs comment. If anything, the one responding could’ve just slid it in nicely rather than being like “look at me, I’m the woke one and you’re the transphobe.” I just can’t stand that holier-than-thou attitude with these things.

mausmaw

Oh my god trans people don't give a shit if your language isn't perfectly inclusive. There's just these weirdos white knighting for trans people and failing miserably. Can't these idiots call out something that's ACTUALLY transphobic? Being a baby about whether someone uses gender-neutral language hurts far more than it fucking helps!

MistyWillowTree136

This. I'm Trans and I honestly don't give a fig if people say "women have periods". Generally they do and trans men like myself might feel the same way where I don't like being reminded of this fact.

Feeling-Arm2543

I'm trans too and whenever I see 'trans men have periods too' it literally makes me uncomfortable 😭😭 like they're hurting more than helping

ducktheRedditapp

There’s this point where inclusion pauses because the novelty of you has to play out. People are brigading against anyone who excludes trans/gay anything right now because there’s still a lot of pushback. But effort goes wayward sometimes and it does the Chinese finger trap thing where one side pushes so hard so that the other pushes hard right back and there’s no resolve. Eventually it’ll even out and being categorized won’t be quite so laden with a separate form of social treatment. You can just truly exist as the average person and not like a demon or a token.

PenguinColada

Also trans and also feel the same.

W4shcl0th

Yeah like if you wanted to help trans people look into court cases of real discrimination and publicize them. Being a twat on social media just alienates moderate people.

ThrumboOfLegend

Oh my God.. you're right, I'd like to take this opportunity to personally apologise to every biological female i may have offended with my previous snide remarks.

penceyghoul

I’m also trans and this shit is fuckin annoying. I feel like policing everything, especially in this way, makes the trans community sound even more annoying than we already do when asking for decency about valid issues. It turns us into a joke. Pushing for inclusivity and understanding is great, but it’s annoying when it’s every. single. thing. It does more harm than good.

Something_Reddit_

Garfiled_with_pipe

Impossible-Dare4040

[deleted]

WarchiefBlack

Because it's not about that. It's about attention and power. They couldn't give a rats ass about the problems they 'care' about. They just want to be seen and heard proselytizing. They're modern day Pharisees, and the quicker people learn to ignore them, the better off we all are.

harpswtf

>Wouldn’t that make them hypocrites? Yes, but they don't care if they're hypocrites. It's such a common thing, with any hot-button issue and especially with politics, that people will hold completely hypocritical and opposite views on things they feel passionately about. The problem is that even if you extremely clearly state what's hypocritical about it, and even if they fully understand it's hypocritical, they just deny and ignore it, because they don't actually care. They don't actually care about being intellectually dishonest, and they don't actually care about most of the issues that they fight about. They just want to fight, and once they've decided on a "side", they'll never want to admit they were wrong because in their minds they're losing the war by admitting previous fault. This kind of shit happens on both sides of any issue. The best thing to do is ignore them and don't get involved.

berryxlime

I so agree with this. I’ve noticed these extreme justice warriors are difficult people in general. Issues at home, issues with friends, issues with people in general. They’re also the type to screen shot everything and post it for public humiliation and ridicule. I’m sad to say that I know many, many of these types in my area and it has made me very distrustful and closed off to making new friends.

ash_ketchup_92

Hit the nail on the head. Pre-internet, you can ignore these people (“that’s just Tim, he’s always starting drama, no one takes him seriously”). Now, the anonymity gives these unhinged people credibility because you can’t tell that they’re unhinged.

smeezy

It’s because there are tons of people out there who think that being combative is the same as being an “ally”. Their goal is to police speech and show their superior wokeness, and not necessarily to educate, enlighten, protect, or otherwise make the situation better for the people who are actually oppressed. They confuse “winning fights” with “making the world better”.

MediocreVayne

Because they’re not actually worried about people “feeling safe”, they want to start arguments where if you disagree with them, they can call you transphobic and other people like them will agree. They know that using gendered words doesn’t actually harm anyone, they’re just looking for a fight cause they’re safe on the internet.

BirdieNuke

Idk man last time I pissed blood I had to go to a doctor...

Omg, yes. The first time i heard the midwife address the group of women my ex wife was in as pregnant PEOPLE I almost lost it. Insanity.

SarixInTheHouse

Where even is the point? Like no trans men wants to be pregnant. That would probably cause some serious mental stress (cant think of a better word but i think you get what i mean) Other than that i cannot think of any other human that is not a woman that could gibe birth to a. Child

GabrielBing

These people need to quit being so touchy. You can't expect society to change the way it uses the English language just because it \*might\* offend less than 1% of the population.

Lorgo044

Wait you can't? So all of this manufactured drama is utterly pointless?!

hamsterwheel

I just had this conversation with some of my friends who were irritated at me using the phrase "you guys." I told them I wouldn't use the phrase around them and apparently that wasn't good enough. They expected me to just stop saying it entirely, which I find ridiculous. I feel totally slighted that they'd think it's ok to demand that I change how I speak when it is so unlikely for me to ever encounter anyone that would object in the first place. And this is in a climate where I feel completely uncomfortable asking questions about gender issues or disagreeing with aspects that I do understand and find inconsistent. And all of those concerns were completely brushed off as me being out of touch. I can't ask questions, I can't be critical, I'm consistently devalued, and the expectation is that, on top of all the things that I need to account for in my day to day life that seem to get more difficult all the time, I have to constantly account for my language in small, ridiculous ways to appease people that have never crossed my path and never will. At some point I won't have the capacity to care anymore. The demands are getting so excessive that it doesn't feel like justice, it feels like revenge. The focus on enforcing these trivial notions is going to backfire hard. The LBGT community needs to pull their heads out of their asses long enough to read the room. I've tried to explain how the lack of strategic thinking about these things is going to have political repercussions, but it doesn't seem to click.

ArmaniPlantainBlocks

> These people need to quit being so touchy. In a society where your status derives from how "oppressed" you claim to be, this will never, ever happen.

Roughsauce

everybody is always looking to be offended or find something to white knight over nowadays. its nearly impossible to just have normal human conversations online at this point, can't even make a damn statement without someone jumping in and going "WULL AKSHUALLY"

Fast_Star154

Sad fact is, not many people that post stupid shit like that are actually trans. Those are selfproclaimed social warriors that very often speak over trans people, or dont let them speak at all. It's sad that they ruined it for the actual trans people. And yes, SOME trans people are whining, but it is like that in every possible "group" of people.

Hank_Holt

The fact is regular trans people rarely ever get seen/mentioned, and it's these performative trans types that are the forefront of what you end up thinking about as it's what you're exposed to. I think generally a MtF person would not like you bringing up that they're trans, would not like you dead naming them, and is just asking that you treat them as a women when conversating. I have absolutely zero issue with that.

FRAGMENT_EFFECT

Well obviously only the extreme ridiculous ones are going to be posted on reddit for clout. It's the same with vegans, feminists etc... 95% of them are normal and don't play the victim any chance they get.

HAND_HOOK_CAR_DOOR

The majority of trans people aren’t like this. The louder people tend to grab your attention more but there are more quiet laid back trans people then loud ones I assure you

LovableContrarian

That's the idea of posts like this. A huge majority of these interactions are fake or posted by propaganda accounts on social media, and these images are designed to make you mad and cause unrest in western nations. Sounds like a conspiracy theory, but it's blatantly obvious. Reddit bans like thousands of Russian accounts a day spamming shit like this. Be more vigilant when it comes to information. A vast majority of LGBTQ people are just normal folks.

tuckastheruckas

the trans community, or more specifically people in the 'woke mafia' so to speak, lost the plot when trying to completely change scientific terms. it went from, "please accept these people, dont hate", which is totally fine as they should be treated with respect, to "this person with a uterus and vagina is scientifically a man because they say they are" which is nonsense to anyone who is able to think logically.

Peng1GT

Fellas is it transphobic to rely on biological evidence and common knowledge

KingObsidianFang

Common knowledge doesn't exist. It's just the set of assumptions you use to operate. Update it with modern science please. Gender dysphoria is in the DSM-5 and needs to be treated or it can be fatal. That's how England killed one of the best mathematicians to ever grace the earth, the father of modern computing, and the man who won them the war. Mr. Alan Turing was done dirty by the homophobic and transphobic England.

People that call random people transphobic/homophobic for no reason are so stupid

i_hate_vampires

Trans people, vegans and people who do CrossFit…nobody asked, just live your life.

FlexibleAsgardian

What *DO YOU* call it when you bleed from your dick then, smart guy? 🤨

SuspiciousPrism

The beginning of a long medical history

Nikoliz

Guess we are transphobic*

calebcantread

She's right, though. I'm a man and I bleed out my ass more than most women I know.

Paradoxicalravensoup

This is stupid as hell. I'm guessing Mickie doesn't have much contact with actual trans folks? I may be a trans woman, but I'm not delusional about what my body is and isn't capable of, and I've never met another trans woman who thought they physically could have a period.....hormonal mood swings....yes, we can and do get those occasionally(If on hormones), but an actual period? Nope.

Shwingbatta

This world is becoming a place where you can’t say anything without offending someone and then all of a sudden you’re a bigot and now fired from your job because it got posted on social media and went viral

[deleted]

So being trans immediately means you’re exempt from being annoying now. Got it.

maskedcow

Srs question: why is it transphobic to say that only women have periods?

[deleted]

I'm not transphobic, but I am really getting sick of this shit. "You don't have to be a woman to have a period." Your gender may not be female, but like it or not, your biology is female. Unless you want to go under the knife and make the transition, it is what it is.

Gruntzer

Hurray for the idiocracy of the alphabet soup gang

Proof_Macaron279

“You don’t have to be a woman to have a periods.” So confident…so ignorant…

UncleBeausTooth

Cora, stop arguing with imbeciles

stocktraderdog

Trans people and their allies seem to be addicted to creating first world problems. What a privilege. Insufferable sense of entitlement.
